Getting married at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort in St. Maarten
The Sonesta Maho Beach Resort is an all inclusive hotel in St. Martin perfect for your Caribbean wedding & honeymoon combo. Jaclyn and Ore had been visiting the resort for years with their family; there was no question they would get married in St. Martin. The resort is just a few minutes away from the Princess Juliana International Airport, making it very accesible for a destination wedding. The great thing about being in the Caribbean (in addition to the tropical lifestyle)? Most of the islands are right next to each other! Flying from Puerto Rico to St. Maarten was quicker than driving around Puerto Rico itself. I arrived with my assistant the day before, met the bride and groom and scouted the venue. With so many beautiful photo-spots, I was eager to get to work.
First Look before Wedding at the Maho Beach Resort
Ore & Jaclyn knew they wanted privacy for their portraits, so we agreed on a First Look session. Once they met, they were both dazzled by each other and wouldn’t let go, which made portraits a breeze. With this extra time, we were able to use vantage points around the hotel that highlighted the ocean. Dreamy, indeed!
Jewish Ceremony and Reception overlooking Maho Beach
Maho Beach is famous for its turquoise waters and views of low flying airplanes. Ore & Jaclyn’s ceremony took place at the hotel’s gazebo (used as a chuppah) and we did get the occasional airliner in the background! After the groom stomped on glass and kissed the bride, we escaped a few minutes to capture a sunset portrait. The newlyweds joined their guests for cocktail hour and their reception took off with the emblematic horah dance. This bride and groom enjoyed every minute of their destination wedding, for sure!
